I know I'm a little late in posting, but over Memorial Day Brent and I went camping and hiking at Mt. Mitchell. Have I mentioned on here how much I love to hike and camp? :)

Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak in the Appalachian Mountains! It was really neat, too, that the place we camped is the highest altitude camp ground in NC. We took the Blue Ridge Parkway up to the campground, so we saw some fabulous scenery on the way to the campsite.

(By the way, this is my work computer's background right now. I love this pic!)
We got to the campground and set up our tent.

It started to sprinkle a little bit, so we put on the rain fly. I'm so glad we did! (More on that later.) Yes, that's an air mattress in our tent under our sleeping bags! So I guess we're not too hard core! :)
Brent took over the manly duty of building us a fire. We had a little trouble getting it going, but someone from another campsite came to our rescue and let Brent use his axes. Turns out the wood was too large to catch on fire to start it up - they needed to be smaller and thinner to start the fire.

(Sorry this pic is so smokey - this pic was shot after we got the fire going so I'm actually taking a pic through the fire smoke.)
But we finally got it going so it was all good. :)

I love wood fires!!
