So this post is a little late, but we celebrated our 9 year anniversary about two weeks ago. We didn't do anything special this year...I had three tests that week and even had lab until 9:15pm the day of our anniversary, so the weekend before our anniversary was out (study time) and the weekend after our anniversary B had made plans a long while back to go to the Big City for a conference.
But I've got to tell you. With each passing year, I realize more and more what a blessing B is to me. I'm so thankful for him in many, many ways. And I'm not only reminded once a year on our anniversary. Many times he'll say something out of the blue that reminds me of just one of the reasons why I love, appreciate, and respect him so much.
I'm not going to lie to you...marriage is hard. Really hard. I think it's because it shows you your selfishness and calls you out on it. At least, I know it shows me mine, and sometimes my man isn't shy about calling me out on it (and vice versa). Truthfully, this is something I appreciate now more than when we first got married. :)
I'm not saying he's perfect. Because he's not. Far from it, in fact. But then, so am I. So is everyone. Marriage is the union of two non-perfect people. That's why marriage is so hard. But we worship a perfect God, one who provided us with a perfect Bridegroom, who saves us from the sin that creates the imperfections in us.
9 years has gone by so quickly. It's amazing and scary at the time that the time has flown by. So all I can say is, "Happy (belated) Anniversary, honey. Here's looking forward to 90 more!"
