Rememberance & Prayer Request

Today would be my grandmother's 86th birthday. She was a wonderful, hard-working woman. She's where I get my Lebanese heritage, a part of where I get my spunky side, and a good example of how to love others, even when they've done you wrong. She raised my dad, aunt, and two uncles, all of who in turn helped to raise me. She passed away while I was in college from what started out as breast cancer. A few years ago, her daughter, my aunt, found a lump in her breast. Thank the Lord, it was caught early and was pre-cancerous. Last night, Brent's mom called us. She found out yesterday that she has breast cancer. This week, she needs to decide if she wants to schedule a lumpectomy followed by radiation or a mastectomy. Please pray for Sudie and Mark, for wisdom about how to handle this situation, for others to come around them and support them, and for their faith to remain steadfast in the Lord. Also, for Brent and me, as it's hard for us to be so far from our family, especially during this difficult time. You know, as I ponder things about cancer, diabetes, and everything else that can go wrong with our bodies, I realize that it's not about what my body can do for me, but what my body can do for the Lord. It's like what my aunt said on the phone this morning: "You just have to stay positive and do what you can. There's a reason for everything. We may not see it now, or ever, but the good Lord's always in control."
